A wedding usually comprises two elements – a legal contract of marriage and a wedding ceremony. Responsibility for the legal side of the wedding is always for the couple who are getting married. Only those celebrants who are affiliated to a belief/faith organization that is approved by the Registrar General of Scotland can conduct both parts of the process. As an independent celebrant I am not authorised to do so. I can conduct your wedding ceremony completely based on your wants, beliefs and values and help guide you with what is needed for the legal part of the marriage conducted by your local Registrar.
-
Yes absolutely. Whilst the legal part of the marriage has to be conducted separately by your local Registrar (you can find details of Scottish Registrars here), I can explain and support you through this part.

I specialise in this as I know first hand how difficult it can be for loved ones to plan a funeral whilst grieving and the weight of responsibility this final act of love brings, especially if you are unsure of the person’s wishes. I will meet with you to plan what you would like the ceremony to include and gather information about your life, before writing and agreeing your ceremony with you. After your death, I will liaise with those who is organising the funeral to provide loved ones with the opportunity to add to the ceremony before delivering this. I can also deliver your funeral with you before you die as a living funeral so you can be part of the celebration of your life.
-
Yes. I have relationships with many Funeral Directors and will work closely with the Funeral Director to ensure everything runs smoothly.
-
Yes. As an animal lover I know pets are equally part of your family and their loss is devastating. I will work with you to plan and deliver a service that perfectly captures the essence of your beloved companion and the impact they have had on your life, helping you to remember the good times and support you at this difficult time.
-
The only limits are your imagination! I can talk you through different ceremony ideas and have lots of suggestions for symbolic gestures that can be included. A naming ceremony can cover lots of different life events so we can work together to completely tailor this to your celebration focus.
-
I sure do. Whatever the life event that you want a ceremony for count me in! Get in touch and we can plan the perfect ceremony for your special ocassion.

Like other celebrants, for example humanist celebrants, as an independent celebrant I am fully trained to provide an alternative to religious ceremonies for people wishing to celebrate or commemorate key life events. However, I am not affiliated to any belief organisation (like humanists for example are). This means I can conduct your wedding ceremony completely based on your wants, beliefs and values. Unlike ceremonies performed by some other belief organisations can include religious or spiritual elements in your ceremony should you want this.
